How The Agave Glycemic Index Will Save Your Diabetic Life

Why is the Agave Glycemic Index (GI) important to you?

You are a diabetic who is looking for something to sweeten up your life a little bit. You've talked to your doctor about things like white bread, but maybe you haven't really received the best message yet on how to actually live with diabetes.

Yeah, you know what to avoid. But what about making your life a little sweeter?

The main focus of this article is just going to be explaining how the Glycemic index affects your life.

What Is The Glycemic Index?

The Glycemic index is basically a measurement of how quickly a certain type of food releases glucose into your bloodstream.

So if a food converts very quickly into glucose while your body is digesting it, then it will have a high number on the Glycemic index (This is bad!).

If a food converts slowly into glucose (Sugar) in your blood stream, then it has a low Glycemic Index (It's good for you!)

A food that ranks low on the Glycemic index almost always has a lower insulin-demand on your body, and I'm sure you know what that means!

How High Of A GI (Glycemic Index) Is Safe For Me?

If you are a Diabetic person, you will not be able to consume foods that have a Glycemic Index higher than 55.

Things like fruits and vegetables (Not potatoes or Watermelon), whole-grain breads, and milk will be safe.

Things like sugar, rice, white bread, watermelon, and potatoes will cause you some major harm!

So then...

What Is The Agave Glycemic Index?

Depending on the brand you get, Agave Nectar can range anywhere from 27-38 on the Glycemic Index.

Volcanic Nectar is my preferred brand of the Agave Sweetener because it is the most pure form of agave, with 27 on the Agave Glycemic index.

Madhava agave ranks 32. I don't recommend it, but for comparisons sake I'm including it here.

Wholesome Sweeteners, although cheap, ranks the bad 38 and is the least pure (So if you have Diabetes I recommend you just get the Volcanic Nectar in bulk, because it is almost as cheap as wholesome sweeteners if you buy it in bulk).

So as you can see, Agave Nectar (with it's great taste) is a fantastic sweetener for you to use, and will practically save your life on many occasions (You know, the ones where you simply can't recover from your impossible sweet tooth...)
